La Luna Sangre: Fall in Love like its destiny, episode 49 recap
Tristan brought Malia in the corn fields. It was one of the rarest days for Tristan where he can be free from any of his responsibilities and reminisce. He told her the stories about his childhood, as recalcitrant as he was. He also told her about the little girl she met under the moon years ago before they moved out of San Isidro. He demonstrated on the moment that their little hands met and the sudden spark that flew between them
Malia knew what Tristan was talking about for she was thinking about the same thing. But she kept mum about it and didn’t voiced the same questions that was bugging him.
“I met that little girl and as our hands clasp like this,” he caught Malia’s hand and held while looking at her eyes. “And spark flew between us. The same thing happened at the night of the concert wherein Lemuel Ruiz were bitten by a vampire…”
“I believed that that girl was you.” He said to her.
Malia stared at his eyes, unable to confirm his theory.
Then, a curious expression entered his eyes, "pero imposible eh. Hindi ba sa Maynila ka lumaki?"
Slowly she nodded. "Yes, sa Manila nga ako lumaki."
She kept her silence. But her mind was screaming. Why you, Tristan?
He looked at her with a beginning of an admiration, "tara na, baka abutin pa tayo ng gabi dito."
⟲ Nightfall ⟳
Tristan and Malia accepted Umang's invitation to hang out with him and his friends that night. One of the young men paid Malia extra attention, showing her an interest.
And Tristan watched the man's antics to get her attention and was unimpressed. Though, he kept looking at her to see her reaction.
In turn, whenever Malia looks at him and saw his unsmiling expression, she'd turn the away. All in all, it was very unenjoyable for Malia because Tristan went back to being reticent.
After a long while, Malia sat like a stone while Umang’s friends were having a whale of time drinking and singing in the Karaoke. One of his friends approached Malia and tried to cajole her into singing with him.
Getting tired with everything and with him, she refused. The young man insisted and she glared at him quietly, “hindi nga.”
He got angry and almost manhandled her to stand and join him.
"Kung hindi kayo ni Tristan, e di pwedeng maging tayo?" The young man drunkenly said in jest. She did not welcome his attention and even conveyed through her set expression that she didn't like his attention.
Tristan who were watching them from behind walked nearer and pushed him away when he became aggressive.
"Pare, lasing ka na." He said to the man. Then he turned to his friend, "Umang, yung kaibigan mo." He complained.
"Bakit? Hindi naman kayo ah." The man accused Tristan.
In anger, he collared him, dragged him to look at him straight in the eye. He looked so angry that he can kill the young man with his bare hands.
“Hindi porque hindi kami eh may karapatan ka ng bastusin siya!”
Malia looked at Tristan and at the scene that was happening. She turned away and went outside the hut.
Not long after Malia ran, Tristan went outside to look for her. He found her standing alone by the river stream, cloaked by darkness, comforted by the serenity of the nature around her.
She smiled sadly as she remembered her childhood.
Tristan approached her. His steps light and sure upon the soft earth. He stopped on her side but kept his attention to the gentle ripples of the river. Aware of his presence, she looked at him but said nothing.
In a comfortable silence, they both looked on ahead. Then, “Tony, pasencya ka na kanina ha. Nabastos ka pa tuloy.” Tristan said.
She turned to him, “wala kang kasalanan, Tristan. Hindi mo na naman kailangan na magpasencya. Ako naman ang nagpumilit na sumama sa’yo.”
She exhaled loudly as she turned her attention at the river. "Tama ka nga siguro, lapitin nga talaga ako ng gulo. Ilang beses mo na akong ipinagtatanggol." There was tenderness in her expression as she smiled at him, "salamat ha."
"Mabuti kang tao, Tristan."
“Siguro yun lang ang paraan para makabawi sa lahat ng ginawa sa akin ng Tatay ko. Kulang pa nga ‘yon. Hindi pa ako nakakabawi sa lahat-lahat ng nagawa niya sa akin. Sa lahat-lahat. Noong bata ako, hindi ko siya naiintindihan. Pero ngayon, ngayon ko lang na realize na lahat ng ginawa nya sa akin ay para patatagin ako.”
She considered him as if he was the most precious and beautiful thing that she saw, "sigurado ako na nakikita ka ng Tatay mo ngayon at natutuwa siya sa ginagawa mo ngayon."
He smiled at that. "Pero kulang pa 'yon."
It was a magical moment for them as their hearts and mind were in alignment. Tristan smiled at her a little bit more and urged her to go back for they need to drive back in Manila first thing in the morning.
“Umuwi na tayo.” He said to her. They were a special kind of camaraderie that formed between them, as if they understood each other in a more deeper level.
